Founder of McKell Partners
Okay, Okay, I give! Over the last few years, I have had several friends tell me I’ve got to start a personal blog. With a crazy work, church, family and community schedule, I have finally decided to make it a priority. Why? Frankly, no matter where I look, I find myself deeply concerned for the kind of world we will leave behind for our children and grandchildren.
Who am I? I am just a guy who loves life, my wife, my family, my God and my country. I am a concerned American. I love everything about our country and the priceless freedoms we enjoy. I believe in the power of the human spirit and strive to make a difference each day. Many years ago I served as a missionary in the Philippines for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. This two year experience shaped and changed my life. I am forever grateful for this time in Southeast Asia.
What I like to do: I love to inspire others to make great life decisions. I enjoy public speaking and motivating others to understand the tremendous capacity that lies within. Seeing the light come on in someone’s countenance when they have a change of heart is infectious. A long convertible ride at sunset, peaceful quiet moments, time to think and listening to inspiring music are also at the top of my list.
My Profession: Growing, McKell Partners a full service wealth management and financial planning practice, is my passion. I am also a CPA. Our mission is to “help individuals and families experience financial peace so they can focus their lives on what matters most.”
My Hobbies: My family and especially my grandchildren are my pride and joy! I love to play tennis, golf and to ride my Cannondale. I love any kind of water sport and all things BYU. I am a crazy car guy… I love Street Rods, Hot Rods and Classic Cars (and yes, there is a difference!).
My Indulgences: Anything chocolate, Oreo cookies and milk, Haagen Dazs Chocolate Peanut Butter Ice Cream, barbecuing with friends and baked potatoes with everything on it… Oh, and my wife’s apricot chicken!
Places I like to go: I love the California coast and the Mountain West. Any tropical island paradise with lazy white sand beaches, beautiful lakes and waterways, like Lake Powell, along with important American historical sites.
My Concerns: In my short 60+ years, I have seen the world change in dramatic ways. Advances in technology, transportation and medicine have been astonishing. Consider a simple smart phone and its capabilities. Yet given these advancements, we see skyrocketing private and public debt, appalling divorce rates, teenage pregnancy, illicit drug use, crime, educational breakdowns and unaffordable healthcare. Why in a world of such advancements, do so many feel so stressed, depressed and exhausted? In short, we have lost spiritual, emotional, financial and relational margin.
Join me in a quest for cultural margin in our lives!
I hope you enjoy my thoughts…
Happy reading!
